HELLO!
My name is Jamella Weir. I am from Hartford CT and am currently in my senior year at Watkinson School. I have been on my journey as a global studies student and have been loving it!
Being a global studies student has opened my eyes to the vast things the world contains; things I had interests in but never found the opportunity to open myself up to. It has helped me make real-world and thought-provoking connections to my interests. This is not always the case. Some of my interests are purely for me!
By scrolling down, you will see some of my photography and extracurriculars. These are just small things to help you better understand who I am.
Aspects Of Me
Photography
Photography has always been an interest for me. Whether it was taking them on my phone or when I had access to a camera. I took a photography class when I got to high school and it was in the class that I could make a website to show my pictures. While browsing through the site you can see my progress as a complete beginner.
More about me | Academics
My academics are a big part of my life; I like to think of them as an extension of myself. As I've grown older, I have started to struggle with holding myself to a standard that I've always told myself to stay at. Click the button to dive more into the struggles I have faced and how I address these issues.
Extra Curriculars
Volleyball is a sport that I love to play. Throughout my high school years, I have consistently improved my skills and have added much value to my varsity team. Though it is not the only sport I play, it is certainly my favorite. I play club with the Western Connecticut Volleyball club.
The smaller things
Extracurriculars cont.
Other extracurriculars I do are basketball and Track and Field. As sated before, these are not my main sports but they are sports I enjoy and in my opinion, thrive in. I have been playing team basketball since middle school and have been running track since my sophomore year of high school. My position on the basketball court is post; my strength is defense. For track, my regular events are the 100m and 200m races, but I've also started to venture in the fields part of track and field participating in long jump.
Pets!
Animals have always been in my life, whether they were pets or just animals that were grown by relatives. Througout my life I have had three (ish) pets. The first was a turtle named Frankie, I was around 4/5 when we had her. Sadly, she passed away during hibernation or at least that's what my parents tell me. My second pet(s) were birds. They were beautiful but a bit noisy. All was good until they were stolen off our porch and we never saw them again. My third and latest pet is my cat, Ginger. Funny enough, she's not a ginger cat but rather a grey a white one. She was born beneath my bazeebo and we decided to keep her (the best decsion we've made). She's strictly a house cat and is now currently the favrite child in the house.
