Global Issue Project
ABOUT THE MAGAZINE
This Magazine article talks about the effect that tourism has on Caribbean islands and how that affects the island, the islanders, and the rest of the world. This will mainly be focused on its relation to the environment, and will also touch on globalization and sustainability. I will go over surface-level information that explains both the negative and positive impacts of tourism. There will be two countries I focus on and I will provide first-hand accounts from when I have visited these countries.
HOW IT WAS MADE
I used a Canva template as the base for my magazine and then all the information was collected by researching the topic leaving the analytical parts out to make it an easy read that gets people’s brains stirring and thinking more deeply about the topic. As stated previously, I am using my own experience to connect back to the topic and give insight from a regular everyday perspective.
WHAT THIS MEANS TO ME
I am Jamaican, my whole family is Jamaican and Jamaica is my second home. That being said, seeing the way tourists have affected the island has made me wonder how it has affected other islands as well. I have been to many other islands as a tourist myself and I have seen the effect from both sides. It has a lasting impact on you whether you are a tourist or a local. I have always had strong thoughts on how far this goes and how many things, people, and places are being destroyed because of this.
